7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

Preliminary task (college magazine):
Music magazine:

Photography

6) What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

5) How did you attract/address your audience?

How do you think I've used the indie genre in my magazine? (0:00-0-34)
Does my fictional artist remind you of anyone? (0:35-1:08)
Do you think that the front cover, contents page and double page spread work well together at one magazine? (1:09-1:46)
Does any parts of my magazine stand out for you? (1:47-2:24)

What do you like about my magazine?

4) Who would be the audience for your media product?

My magazine will be for males and females. This is because my survey shows me to that both male and females are interested in my magazine. I wanted to appeal to male and females because it would be a greater audience there for I will get more money. This is why I used the colour blue as my main colour because I feel that it can appeal to men and women.

My survey will be aimed at 15 - 24 since I got 100% on my question. This is why I included Eddy Lart as my main story, because he is in the age range of 15 - 24, this would let the audience and my magazine have a connection.

I will aim my magazine at ABC1 since this band is the most popular according to my survey. A is upper middle class, B is middle class and C1 is lower middle class. I have armed it at these classes because not only because of my survey but because I will be able to charge a higher price for it. Also if I am charging a higher price then I would be able to spend more on the making of the magazine, which would increase the quality of my magazine.
When I asked what your favourite genre of music the most popular answer was the indie genre. I then based my magazine on this genre. I then began to research it and plan my magazine. I looked in to artist like Ed Sheeran and Adele since they are in the indie genre. I then took elements of them and used them on my magazine. For example I have used a guitar to help represent my genre, Ed Sheeran also does this since it is an important element of his music.

In my survey I asked which was your three favourite. I have put any indie artist like Ed Sheeran or Arctic Monkey's on my front cover or contents page. This would help my magazine sell since that these are well known artist.

I how many constants you go to because I needed to know weather I should put concert tickets in. Since I got 92.86% on 0 -3 I chose not to put any in because I thought that was a low score.

I have asked what was your favourite brand and what device do you listen music on. The most popular answer was Apple and smart phone. This is why I put a plug on my front cover saying "win an iPhone". This would attract my audience.

Overall my audience is for both male and females who like the indie genre. Who are in the age range of 15 and 24. My magazine will fit the ABC1 social class because it is in a formal style and also I fall in to this social class so I feel that I can understand it and tell what people want. Also the relaxed and chilled out style of magazine suits the band because people will be looking for a sophisticated. The people who buy my magazine will be in to the indie genre so they will want to know what is happening to the indie artist.

3) What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

Q2 from Matty lart

2) How does your media product represent particular social groups?

1) In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?

Front cover

Here are some magazines that I have annotated to show all the different features typical of an indie magazine:

This is my magazine annotated:
Masthead
When I was designing my masthead I went through all the different colours and fonts I could use for my indie magazine.

Indie mastheads:

My Masthead:
My masthead has some of the same convection's of other indie mastheads. For example I have have put the masthead across the top of my magazine, reading left to right. This is because it will be noticeable, vibrant and this is the direction that people read.
The colours for my masthead are unconventional since most colours for magazines are bright and eye catching. I have gone against this decision of making it bright and eye catching because I wanted my magazine to appeal to both males and females. This is why I chose blue because I feel stereotypical it's socially acceptable to use blue for both genders. I wanted to appeal to both genders because my market research in my survey showed me that both male and females will read my magazine.
My magazine follows the font of Aharoni. I feel this gave a formal touch to my magazine, this is because I was aiming my magazine at 15 - 24. Being in this age range myself and talking to people in the age range I discovered that this age range likes formal better that informal.

Skyline

Example:
My skyline:
When I was designing my skyline I looked at lots of skylines and came up with my design. The skyline is meant to add additional information without getting in the way of the rest of the magazine. I feel like my skyline meets this convection and fits the style of my magazine as it is simple and it stands out.

Main image

Example:

My magazine:

My main image follows the same convection as other magazines. For example the image is the biggest thing on the page. This will allow the reader to easily know what the magazine is about. I also use direct address because it forms a bond with the reader and the magazine.

Main story

Examples:

My main story:

My main story follows the same convection's as other magazines. For example it's physically the biggest story on the magazine, the big bold lettering and the bright and colourful lettering. This will draw the readers eye. Also I have added a tagline under the main image. This will let people know what the article will be about but keep them wanting to find out more.

Plug

Example:

My magazine:
My plug follows the same convection's of other plugs. They are used to advertise key features. My plug advertises an iPhone. This would provide a relationship between apple and my magazine. The convection's of my magazine are bright colours to attract the reader. The big bold letters that will stand out against the blue background. I have also put an apple logo because people will recognize it.

Cover stories

Example:

My magazine:

My cover stories follow the same convection's of other magazine cover stories. They are used to display information that will be in the magazine. I have split my cover stories up, at the top you have the more well known artists like Ed Sheeran and Adele because they are popular which would increase sales and I have added a caption to let the reader have a sneak peak of what's inside the magazine. Down below I have put the names of the artist that are not as popular, these would still attract sales but only a niche audience. The convection of bright colours letters will draw the eye and I have used the same colours that I use on the rest of my magazine. I have also positioned them at the sides so they will be easily spotted.

Barcode

Example:
My magazine:

The convections of  a barcode is to put it were it is hidden but you still need it to scan in the shop so that it can be purchased.

Colour scheme

My magazine:

My magazine follows the same convection of the three colour scheme. I believe that my blue, white and black colours together well. The colours help keep continuity across my front cover, contents page and double page spread.
